Purito Deep Sea Water Cream
So! as i mentioned in my skincare routine, i’ve been in need of a new moisturizer for a little while now. this is great for two reasons: i have an excuse to try new products and i get to (finally!!) experiment with korean skincare. the K-beauty industry has absolutely BOOMED in recent years, and become a sort of obsession in the US market. with brands like La Neige and Dr. Jart being sold in Sephora i wanted to see what else korean skincare had to offer (bc lets be honest sephora is expensive af)
I did a shit ton of research before choosing the Purito Deep Sea Water Cream to make sure i got both a reputable product and one that would work for my skin. i chose this one for a couple reasons: its inexpensive (~$15), its meant for dry skin, and its a water-gel type moisturizer. my previous moisturizer (Lumene Nordic-C Glow Reveal) was a much thicker cream and I was never obsessed with the texture, but water creams always felt so nice on my skin I was excited to give one a try. I also really liked the fact that it includes Niacinamide which has been getting a lot of buzz lately. It does a LOT and its even better because its compatible with most all other ingredients (even retinol!). namely, it helps strengthen the skin barrier from moisture loss and sun damage, or other pervious damage (bye bye skin cancer). it also visibly minimizes pores and smooths the skin from wrinkles/texture/uneven skin tone.
So i’ve been using it for over a month now and I want to share my thoughts.
THE PROS:
when I started using it, i had just had a rather bad breakout (by my standards lol) and my face was dealing with some annoying red marks. the niacinamide definitely did the trick and those bad boys were GONE in a couple days. i also am happy with the way its helped with my skin texture. on my forehead and around the nose it can sometimes feel like little bumps are making a tiny city on my face, while not noticeable, it tend to pick at any skin texture and both my forehead and nose have been free of any inhabitants since i started using it! i’m also a big fan of the water cream texture, it feels so light and soft on the skin, absorbs like a dream, and doesn’t feel like i’m clogging my pores like with heavy creams.
THE CONS:
soooo either i have way drier skin than i thought or this is not really meant for dry skin. I find myself applying 2-3 layers of it in the morning otherwise my skin just doesn’t feel quenched. me and my skin are used to the thicc lumen cream so this, while a lovely texture, isn’t quite doing the trick by itself. THAT SAID when layered with a few drops of oil, one layer is perfectly sufficient and my skin feels amazinggg. (plus oil=extra glow).
MY FINAL DIAGNOSIS:
despite the fact that this moisturizer isn’t perfect for me, i really do like it and would recommend it to literally anyone without dry skin. niacinamide can also help regulate the production of oil so someone with combination skin could really benefit because it would reduce their oily areas and still hydrate their dry areas. its inexpensive, high quality, formulated without fragrance or essential oils (hyram approved lol) and overall a solid moisturizer.
